Symbolic Animal

Chon-ma, whose wall-paintings were discovered in royal tombs of the Silla dynasty, has a close relationship with our folks. Pegasus, Chon-ma’s counterpart in Greek mythology, is known as a very violent and wild animal difficult to be tamed. However, anyone with golden reins bestowed by Athena, goddess of wisdom, is said to have been able to tame Pegasus. So Suwon University selected Chon-ma as aa symbol animal to metaphorically insinuate its will to carry those with wisdom on its back and to fly high in the sky.
